Sony’s team at Germany tweeted recently that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update will be coming to Xperia S to later this month. The tweets comes as a response to a question from a German user for the question of when can he get the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update on his device.
The tweet says “we will begin the roll out of Android [Jelly Bean] 4.1 for the Xperia S in late March.” Even though it’s still not confirmed that the update will be only for Germany or for Global users too.
Earlier XperiaBlog also mentioned that the Jelly Bean will be coming to Xperia S by the end of March. The new OS update will bring numerous new features like smoother user interface, Google Now, enhanced multitasking, better camera and lot more.
The smartphone was originally launched back in January 2012 with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and it received Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update in June. It has also received some firmware updates in September.
Sony is trying hard to maintain its market share by launching new handsets and releasing updates to the existing devices.
The Sony Xperia S runs on Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon dual core processor at 1.5 GHz speed paired with 1 GB of RAM. The smartphone has a 4.3 inch display with 720 X 1280 pixels resolution. The Xperia S also features a 12 mega pixel camera at the back and a 1.3 mega pixel camera at the front.
