The new 14-inch Lenovo IdeaPad Z460 is the latest addition in Lenovo’s IdeaPad series of laptops for home. Unlike Lenovo IdeaPad’s Y-series of home entertainment laptops, the new Lenovo IdeaPad Z460 laptop is aimed at customers interested in a stylish, trendy looking laptop under Rs. 34,480.
The lid and the screen frame are black, while the wrist rest has a brushed metal (matte) nickel plated finishing, pretty neat for an entry-level multimedia laptop. What’s worth the praise is the solid build quality, and also, being a 14-incher this one’s quite light in weight, a very good pick for daily use. What’s even more reassuring is the chiclet keyboard, which is quite comfortable to type on, the keys are spaced well and are slightly concave which makes typing quite a breeze.
The one downer you might notice is that the Shift and Enter keys are smaller than usual. Otherwise, this one gets a ten on ten, in terms of design and ergonomics. Battery life on the Lenovo IdeaPad Z460 is also pretty good, compared to other laptops in the same range.

However, for serious multimedia (especially gaming), it’s a good idea to shell out a bit more and get a laptop with a discrete GPU (IdeaPad Z560 for 36K, with an Nvidia GeForce GT 310 GPU).

I have a choice between this and the Thinkpad Edge 11.
I want my laptop to have great functionality, and durability too. Something that can not only last longer than most laptops, but can do everyday things (writing docs, listen to music, surf internet) better as well.
Not THAT much better, but I do want a good investment.

alfred jhon is wrong. it’s sound quality is nice and can hear without head phone and external speaker.
I’am using core2 duo processor before then i bought this Z460, it’s true that it was stylish but i feel that the speed in processor was lot slower that the one i’m using before (core2 duo processor). and even though there was alot of application running, only up to 5% of processor was working. why is this so.
only 3 days i use it, nice and perfect
i can’t use the camera. maybe i’m missing something. i used the function keys(fn-esc) and reenter the drivers, i browse their support in the internet still get nothing.

Hi guys i had lenovo ideapad z460 I had a problem with webcam drivers in windows 7 I search there is no webcam drivers for win 7 and there is no plug-in support in win 7 for lenovo ideapad z460 webcam driver to access anybody help me
You need to download the software from lenovo site for you to use the webcam.
the file called YOUCAM.
for windows 7 maybe you can try search update at control pannel. :)
update windows is including driver.
I bought Ideapad Z460 in last year Nov 2010, & believe me its a great model in a range of 32000rs, its sound, Graphics, touchpad, keyboard, IO ports, Battery backup, everthing is AWESOME, i play my 5.1 channel in stereo mode & the sound is Booming, I m an comp hardware engineer, so believe me in that range of price there is no compare with that. I reviewed many laptops & Desktops, but i hate the Acer brand laptops, its sound, touch pads, Battery backups, keypad are not good or durable, many of my friends changes their battery, keypads, speakers, touch pads etc. in acer brand. I have also Core 2 Duo E7200/E8400 processor desktop with 2GB/4GB of memory & compare it with Ideapad Z460, the performance is excellent of this laptop. & lastly i told you guys that if you have average budget laptop buyer then you must Opt for this Model.
